Less Payroll + Less Analytics = More Wins?

Less is more, right? The rumors say Buster is going cheap by cutting payroll and the boys are talking about it. They also review the hires Posey has made and what it means for the culture of the team. Who's making the lineup? Computers? Or Bob Melvin?

Speaking of cocktails, today Matthew is drinking a Boukman Daiquiri while Ben is drinking mull spiced port. Recipes below.

Boukman Daiquiri

  • 1 1/2 oz White Rum
  • 1/2 oz Cognac
  • 3/4 oz Lime Juice
  • 3/4 oz Cinnamon Syrup
  • Cinnamon Stick for garnish
  • Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until well-chilled. Double strain into a chilled coupe glass and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Spiced Port Wine

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup mulling spices
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 750ml bottle of ruby port
  • Combine sugar, water and mulling spices in a pot and bring to a simmer. Simmer for an hour. Lower temperature to low and add ruby port. Filter out spices and serve individually in mugs. (Spike with a shot of vodka to make this an actual cocktail.)
